Our marble pieces are crafted in a workshop run by a young entrepreneur with a heart for his community. Hoa grew up in a poor rice-farming village. After he graduated, he found work as a silver jeweler in Hanoi, but struggled to earn a dependable income.Noonday’s Artisan Business Partners met Hoa and were impressed with his skill and determination. They challenged him to master marble-working as well, and soon his first workshop began to grow.

Despite his success in Hanoi, Hoa’s dream was to return to his home village and open a workshop to bring stable incomes to farmers in his community. Because of Noonday’s orders, that dream came true. Hoa opened a workshop in his home village in 2018, where he provides fair, reliable work to his friends and neighbors.

Beginning in 1954, Vietnam was partitioned into two countries, and was reunified in 1976. Vietnam places a high value on education and has a literacy rate of 96%. Handcrafts are also highly valued as cultural treasures; over 2700 villages in Vietnam are known as "craft villages" because they have specialized in a particular handcraft for hundreds of years

  • Xanh
    Xanh grew up in a village where severe storms often threatened to destroy their homes, farmland, and livelihoods. She always believed that working in the rice fields was her destiny. But then she learned about Hoa’s workshop – and while she had no experience with marble, she saw a path toward stability for her family. After being trained by Hoa, Xanh is now flourishing. Her job has given her the chance to build her confidence, provide for her family, and rebuild her home to stand strong against any storm.
  • Nga
    Nga used to commute from her village of Nghe An to Hanoi – a journey that took almost a day. She would stay in Hanoi for weeks at a time to earn an income, but she longed to be close to her children and family. Since Hoa moved his workshop to Nghe An, Nga is now able to work in her home village. This allows her and other Artisans like her to hold dignified jobs – without having to spend precious time away from their families.
