Sonica is the visionary behind Megavickwear, a social enterprise that works at the intersection of fashion design and socio-environmental activism. Sonica has built a strong network of Artisan partnerships based on mutual trust and respect. She harnesses these partnerships to champion regenerative textile practices and a zero-waste design philosophy that focuses on organic materials. Her design approach is rooted in the core belief that the creation of beauty goes hand in hand with human integrity and environmental conservation. Over the last two decades, Sonica and her Artisan Partners have developed one of the most effective and transparent sustainable production houses in India. Their in-house certified factory production and sewing center for at-risk women from the slums of New Delhi, Projecthrive, ensures that their products are not just of the highest quality but also ethical and sustainable.

The country has a rich history of handcrafts dating back to 5000 BC, including techniques like weaving, pottery, jewelry-making, and metalworking.

  • Reena
    In New Delhi, our Artisan Business Partner runs a training and development program that aims to empower women in the slums. It was there that Reena’s Artisan journey began – and with hard work and dedication, today she is a full-time seamstress creating beautiful accessories for customers across the globe. Reena shares that one of her biggest sources of pride is that she now earns as much as her husband, and dedicates her income towards her children’s education and her family’s welfare.
  • Sangeeta
    Sangeeta is a woman of many talents, from machine sewing to intricate hand-embroidery to detailed beadwork. She has been part of the workshop for many years, and the workshop leaders say she is like a family member to them. Sangeeta is proud to be able to put her incredible skills to work for the betterment of her family. She shares that her daughter’s education and the success and well-being of her family are all thanks to her job as an Artisan.
