About

Moradabad is renowned for its brass artistry, and more than half of the
city’s 700,000 residents make their living from traditional brassworking. This
artistic tradition has been passed down through generations. But problems like
low wages and exploitation by buyers have put this time-honored art form, and
the people who have mastered it, at risk.

After witnessing the struggles of these artisans firsthand, Samuel Masih
established Noah’s Ark in 1986. His goals: to raise the artisans out of poverty
and preserve their endangered livelihood while building a new kind of
relationship with buyers based on trust and shared values. For over 30 years,
Noah’s Ark has supported their Artisans and community by paying fair wages,
investing in needed health and education initiatives, and practicing
profit-sharing with Artisans that allows them to build better futures for their
families.
